What You Risk When You Fake It
I think what might be the biggest problem is that in faking it, you will ultimately attract and surround yourself with the wrong people. people who’s values don’t align with yours and who like you for the wrong reasons. These relationships are conditional and these people are merely visitors in your life, coming and going as they please. Life is too much of a roller coaster for conditional relationships. Everyone will be up or at the top at some points as well as at the bottom. That’s life.
If you only have relationships contingently created when you’re “up”, then when you go down, whatever that means, and it’s inevitable that you will, those relationships will dissipate. However, it is relationships and the people that matter that are critical to setting in motion and catalyzing your ascension and bringing you back up. These are the people that will catch you before your sorriness becomes quicksand and a vicious state of being, rather than just a hiccup and a little bruise.
Investing your time and emotional bandwidth in the right people is key. Vulnerability is one major way to do that, while also attracting the right people to you and revealing those opportunities in the first place.
